With reference to your letter of 2nd. November

in connection with the order for Siemens China Electrical

Engineering Co. Ltd., Hongkong, you will recollect that I

told your Kr. Eddison that I had received a despatch from

the Colonial Secretary, Hongkong, saying that in reply to a

telegram from the Secretary of State for the Colonies asking whether the despatch of this mohine might be allowed, a reply

has been sent saying there was no objection.

This however was in August last, and it is

impossible for me to say whether any change has now been made.

You will realize of course that in dealing with a firm like that

of Siemens, which may have indirect enemy commotions, pointe

may occur at any tim which hamper business. I have therefore

sext copy of your letter to Hongkong asking whether any further

information can be given.
